Über ein Jahr lang war der Dannenroder Wald in Deutschland von Klimaaktivisten besetzt, die in bis zu 30 Meter hohen Baumhäusern lebten, um ihn vor Rodungen für eine neue Autobahn zu schützen. Im Oktober 2020 begannen die Bergung durch die Polizei und das Fällen der Bäume. Der Dokumentarfilm Barricade – Pictures of an Occupation begleitet die Aktivisten durch ihre Aktionen, ihre Träume und ihre Musik und ist mit ihnen, als in der ersten Dezemberwoche 2020 endlich die letzten Baumhäuser fielen.
