Es bezieht sich auf eine Insel im Südpazifik, die als Idealbild des „Exotischen",„Anderen" inszeniert wurde – eng verknüpft mit einer kolonial geprägten Vorstellung der Matriarchin der Insel, Bloody Mary, die (westliche) Männer mit ihrem Gesang anlockt. In einer Art Kaleidoskop der Verkörperungen collagiert Ming seine eigene Repräsentation der Bloody Mary mit jener von Juanita Hall, die für ihre Darstellung als erste afroamerikanische Frau einen Tony-Award erhielt.
