Burenkrieg - Eine Frau wie Tausend Feuer (1990) Kostenlos Anschauen
Im Jahre 1899 kommt die englische Pfarrerstochter Emily Hobhouse nach Südafrika, wo sich gerade Buren und Engländer erbitterte Kämpfe liefern. Als Miss Hobhouse miterleben muß, daß ihre Landsleute burische Farmen niederbrennen, und Frauen wie Kinder in Konzentrationslagern zu menschenunwürdigen Bedingungen vor sich hin vegetieren, ergreift sie die Initiative. In einem Akt grenzenloser Nächstenliebe beginnt sie, Kranke und Hungernde zu pflegen, sich an der politischen Front zu engagieren und schließlich den ersten internationalen Hilfsfond aufzubauen. Im Jahre 1926 stirbt die überzeugte Humanistin nach erfülltem Leben und wird nach ihrem Willen im südafrikanischen Blomfontein bestattet.
