"Butoh: Körper am Rande der Krise" ist ein visuell eindrucksvoller film-portrait on location aufgenommen in Japan mit der Teilnahme der wichtigsten Butoh-Choreografen und Ihre Unternehmen. Obwohl Butoh wird oft als Japans äquivalent des modernen Tanzes, in Wirklichkeit hat wenig zu tun mit den rationalen Prinzipien der moderne. Butoh ist ein theater der improvisation, die Orte, die persönlichen Erfahrungen der Tänzerin auf der center-Bühne. Durch die Wiedereinführung der altjapanische Verbindung von Tanz, Musik und Masken, und durch Rückbesinnung auf das buddhistische tanzt der Tod des ländlichen Japan, Butoh enthält viel traditionellen theater.
