Calypso Rose: The Lioness of the Jungle (2011) Kostenlos Anschauen
„Ich bin nicht zu einer Calypso-Sängerin geworden, ich wurde ins Calypso hineingeboren", stellt Calypso Rose fest. Schon mit fünfzehn Jahren stand sie auf ihrer Heimatinsel Trinidad in der Karibik auf der Bühne. Doch es sollte ein harter Kampf für sie werden, sich in der Männerdomäne durchzusetzen. So entwickelte sie sich auch zu einer kämpferischen Frauenrechtlerin. Der Film ist ein intimes Portrait der „Queen of Calypso", der aufzeigt, dass ihre Musik prägend ist für den „Afro-Caribbean Soul", der auch im Hip-Hop und Reggae zu Hause ist. Die Dokumentation erzählt die Lebensgeschichte der kraftvollen Sängerin mit viel mitreißender Musik und führt auch zu ihren familiären Wurzeln in Afrika.
