“Chroniken von einen falschen Geist (von Kelly Gabron) ist weniger eine Darstellung von "Wirklichkeit" als eine Untersuchung der Auswirkungen der mediation Schwarzer Geschichte von film, Fernsehen, Zeitschriften und Zeitungen. Mit Ihrem alter ego, Kelly Gabron, Smith fabriziert eine persönliche Geschichte Ihrer Entstehung, als ein Künstler aus weiß-Männlich dominierten amerikanischen Geschichte (und amerikanischen film-Geschichte). Smith Collagen, Bilder und Textbausteine aus einem Sammelalbum von 'Kelly Gabron' worden war abgeschlossen, bevor der film begonnen wurde, und bietet weibliche Erzählung von 'Kelly Gabron', die langsam aber sicher macht sich bemerkbar über die männliche Erzählung über Kelly Gabron (Chris Brown ist die männliche Stimme). Der film die Flut von Bild -, text-und voice-zweimal wiederholt wird, und ist gefolgt von einer coda. Dass die meisten Zuschauer sehen die zweite Vorstellung von den Bildern abweichend von der ursprünglichen Präsentation veranschaulicht ein problem mit Vertrauen alle Medien der Repräsentation.
