Im viktorianischen London, einen schönen Jungen Mann erhält ein Porträt von sich von einem Künstler bewundern. Bald nach diesem, behandelt er eine junge Frau grausam und dann merkt, dass sein Porträt sieht gemeiner als früher. Schließlich kann er nicht ertragen, das Porträt und versteckt es auf dem Dachboden. Wie die Jahre vergehen, er wird immer mehr skrupellose und liederlich. Seine Freunde bemerken, wie er ist schön wie eh und je, und nie zu Altern scheint. Aber bis in den Dachboden, sein Bild wird immer hässlicher mit seinen sündigen wegen.
