Bereits seit vielen Jahren ist der Wissenschaftler Clifton Bradbury hinter dem sagenhaften Gold der Inkas her. Der Legende zufolge ist der Schatz irgendwo im unzugänglichen Gebiet der Kordilleren in versteckten Höhlen und in alten Grabstätten verborgen. Mit der attraktiven Linda Logan macht er sich auf die Suche. In ihren Händen halten sie jedoch etwas, was die unzähligen Goldjäger vor ihnen nicht hatten: den genauen Lageplan der verschollenen Inka-Stadt. Wie abenteuerlich und bedrohlich ihr Ausflug in das Dickicht des Dschungels wirklich ist, sollte sich jedoch bald herausstellen: Sie werden verfolgt, von den tödlichen Giftpfeilen der Eingeborenen bedroht und in jedem Flusslauf lauern Mörderkrokodile auf neue Beute.
