In einer kleinen griechischen Lagunenstadt fristen zwei Frauen ihr trostloses Leben und träumen davon, dem Kaff endlich zu entkommen. Elisabeth war eine ehrgeizige Polizistin, bevor sie aus Athen hierher versetzt wurde. Jetzt ist sie einsam, schlecht gelaunt und meist verkatert. Rita ist die verschlossene, geheimnisvolle Schwester eines Schlagersängers, der in der örtlichen Disco auftritt. Sein plötzlicher Tod erschüttert die Stadt und stellt das soziale Gefüge in Frage. Elisabeth wird mit der Aufklärung des Falls beauftragt und je weiter sie mit ihren Ermittlungen kommt, desto mehr Geheimnisse treten aus dem Sumpf der Kleinstadt zu Tage.
