Edmund Dantes ist fälschlicherweise beschuldigt, durch diejenigen, die neidisch auf sein Glück, und wird verurteilt, den rest seines Lebens im berüchtigten Insel-Gefängnis Chateau d ' if. Während inhaftiert, er erfüllt die Abbe Faria, einem Mitgefangenen, denen jeder glaubt, zu Sauer sein.
