Zwei Gauner, der eiskalte und brutale Tony und der eher moderate, aber beeinflussbare, Frank wollen einen ganz einfachen Coup durchziehen: die Tageseinnahmen des Buchmachers Carter klauen, sobald dieser die Rennbahn verlässt. Doch alles geht schief: Carter hat sich die Tasche an das Handgelenk gekettet und Tony schlägt ihn so brutal nieder, dass er bewußtlos wird.
