Nach dem Tod ihres Großvaters beschließt die 20-jährige Alma, in ihr Elternhaus zurückzukehren - eine kleine Insel im Herzen des majestätischen kanadischen Waldes. Dort rettet sie zwei hilflose Jungtiere: einen Wolf und einen Löwen. Sie schmieden eine untrennbare Verbindung, doch ihre Welt bricht bald zusammen, als der Förster die Tiere entdeckt und mitnimmt. Die beiden Jungenbrüder müssen sich nun auf eine tückische Reise durch Kanada begeben, um wieder miteinander und Alma vereint zu sein.
