Ein zielloser Flaneur (Jean-Pierre Léaud) verbringt seine Tage zwischen zwei Frauen, endlosen Gesprächen in Pariser Cafés und der Suche nach sich selbst. Im Zentrum steht eine Dreiecksbeziehung im Nachklang der Umwälzungen des Jahres 1968, die sich mit direkter Offenheit zwischen Selbstinszenierung, Begehren und emotionaler Grausamkeit entwickelt. Ein bis heute herausforderndes Werk über Liebe, Sprache und die Unmöglichkeit, zueinander zu finden. Jean Eustache, ausgebildeter Elektriker und Autodidakt, war als Arbeiter-Kind eine Ausnahmefigur der ansonsten bourgeoisen Nouvelle Vague. Fast autobiografisch spiegelt sich sein Leben auch in seinen Filmen wieder. Mit präziser Aufmerksamkeit für Sprache, Gesten und soziale Wirklichkeiten bewegt sich Eustaches Kino in einem Raum dokumentarischer Fiktion. Neben zahlreichen Kurz- und mittellangen Filmen umfasst Eustaches Hauptwerk seine beiden Langspielfilme LA MAMAN ET LA PUTAIN und MES PETITES AMOUREUSES.
