Zehn Jahre nach seinem Ausscheiden aus der Regierung muss Colonel Steve Austin erneut mit Jaime Sommers zusammenarbeiten, um eine Terroristengruppe zu stoppen. Komplizierter werden die Dinge für Austin durch seinen entfremdeten Sohn Michael, der um die Akzeptanz seines Vaters kämpft, während er die Flugschule abschließt, und Jaime, der mit ihrer und Steves Vergangenheit fertig werden muss. Als Michael bei einem Unfall schwer verletzt wird, muss Steve die gleiche Entscheidung treffen, ihn mit Bionik auszustatten, die er vor Jahren bei Jaime nach ihrem Unfall treffen musste.
