Douglas Fairbanks

Douglas Fairbanks, Sr. (May 23, 1883 – Dezember 12, 1939) war ein US-amerikanischer Schauspieler, Drehbuchautor, Regisseur und Produzent. Er war am besten bekannt für seine verwegenen Rollen in Stummfilmen wie Der Dieb von Bagdad, Robin Hood, und Das Zeichen des Zorro. Ein kluger Geschäftsmann, Fairbanks war ein Gründungsmitglied von United Artists. Fairbanks war auch ein Gründungsmitglied von The Motion Picture Academy und Gastgeber der ersten Oscar-Verleihung 1929. Mit seiner Ehe mit Mary Pickford 1920, das paar wurde Hollywood-Adel mit Fairbanks ständig bezeichnet als "König von Hollywood", ein Spitzname, später an Schauspieler Clark Gable.
