Zunächst ist die Freude bei Glen (Gene Otis Shayne) und dessen Verlobter Liz (Jennifer Bishop) über die Erbschaft eines Schlosses in der kalifornischen Wüste groß. Die beiden beschließen sich das alte Gemäuer mal anzusehen und bei der Gelegenheit auch gleich das Ehepaar Townsend kennenzulernen, welches dort bereits seit 60 Jahren zur Miete wohnt. Doch schon schnell merkt das junge Paar, dass es auf dem Schloss nicht mit rechten Dingen zugeht: Das Ehepaar Townsend schläft nicht nur in Särgen, sondern hält in den Verliesen des Schlosses einige Jungfrauen gefangen, welche sie dem Gott Luna opfern, und ihr Sohn entpuppt sich als ein aus der Irrenanstalt Geflohener, welcher sich in Vollmondnächten in einen Werwolf verwandelt ...
