In Ta ga Tame no Alchemist, dem Anime-Film zum gleichnamigen Mobile Game, folgen wir der Oberschülerin Kasumi Nagasaka, die sich eines Tages plötzlich in eine völlig andere Welt transportiert findet. Hier landet sie auf dem Kontinent Babel, dessen Wahrzeichen, der große Turm zu Babel, drohend über die dortigen sieben Nationen aufragt. Nachdem die Bewohner Babels sich der Alchemie ermächtigten und ihre Geheimnisse weiter und weiter erkundeten, dauerte es natürlich nicht lang, bis man auf die Idee kam, dieses mächtige Technik zu einer Waffe zu machen – eine Waffe, die die Menschheit im darauffolgenden Krieg an den Rand der Vernichtung treiben sollte. Damit eine derartige Tragödie sich nie wieder ereignet, schlossen die sieben Nationen einen äußerst instabilen Frieden, der auch zur internationalen Prohibition der Alchemie führte.
