Kondensierend die Lebensdauer Geschichten – Erinnerungen an das Gefängnis in Schlesien – von Dostojewski in seinem Werk Das Haus der Toten, Leoš Janáček eine Oper komponiert, gefüllt mit dem brennenden Wunsch und der Sehnsucht. Ansteckend Wildheit, Grausamkeit und Brutalität, die noch verschärft werden durch die Grenzen von Gefängnis. Jedoch, innerhalb dessen Betonwände entstehen sowohl Zärtlichkeit und Grausamkeit, der sich beim Anblick eines Verletzten Vogel; eine Vielzahl von Geschichten und sehr persönlichen Monologen. Mit dieser Produktion, Uraufführung bei den Wiener Festwochen im Jahr 2007 der Pariser Oper ist eine Hommage an Patrice Chéreau.
