In der ersten, vorwiegend von italienischen Regisseuren geprägten Zombiefilmwelle fast 30 Jahre zuvor stellte Bruno Mattei mit seiner "Hölle der lebenden Toten" das qualitative Schlusslicht. Nun tritt ausgerechnet Mattei als erster Italiener vor, um einen Beitrag zur Welle der 2000er Jahre zu leisten, und unterbietet seine damalige Leistung mühelos mit diesem bleischweren Splatter-Mummenschanz in billigstem Digicam-Format. Dennoch werden sich manche freuen, seinen Namen zu lesen, und viel schlechter als der zeitgleich produzierte C-Durchschnitt ist sein Opus dann auch nicht.
