Wie die Welt ist mitten in einer industriellen revolution, ein monster erscheint, die nicht besiegt werden kann, es sei denn, sein Herz, die ist geschützt durch eine Schicht von Eisen -, durchbohrt. Durch das infizieren von Menschen mit Biss, die monster erstellen können aggressiv und Untoten Kreaturen, bekannt als Kabane. Auf der Insel Hinomoto, befindet sich im Fernen Osten haben die Menschen gebaut, Stationen zu schützen sich von diesen Kreaturen. Menschen auf der station, sowie transport von waren zwischen Ihnen, mit Hilfe einer Lokomotive läuft auf steam, genannt Hayajiro. Ikoma, ein junge, lebt in der Aragane station und hilft zu bauen Hayajiro, schafft sich seine eigene Waffe namens Tsuranukizutsu um zu besiegen die Kreaturen. Eines Tages, als wartet er auf eine Gelegenheit, seine Waffe, trifft er ein Mädchen namens Mumei, wer ist davon befreit, die obligatorische Kabane Inspektion. Während der Nacht, Ikuma trifft Mumei wieder, als er sieht, Hayajiro außer Kontrolle. Das Personal auf der Lokomotive hat sich in die Kreaturen. Die station, die jetzt unter Beschuss ...
