Zwischen 1947 und 1950 mehr als 80 000 griechischen Bürger wurden inhaftiert auf der Insel Makronisos (Griechenland), reeducation camps geschaffen, um 'Kampf gegen die Ausbreitung des Kommunismus'. Unter diesen Verbannten waren eine Reihe von Schriftstellern und Dichtern, darunter Yannis Ritsos und Tassos Livaditis. Trotz der Entbehrung und Folter, diese Gefangenen gelang es, Gedichte zu Komponieren, die beschreiben, Ihren Kampf für das überleben in dieser Welt der Internierung. Diese Texte, einige von Ihnen begraben in den lagern, wurden später gefunden. «Wie Löwen aus Stein am Tor der Nacht» verbindet diese poetische Schriften mit den reeducation-propaganda ständig geleitet durch die Lager-Lautsprecher. Lange Kamerafahrten nehmen uns mit auf eine trance-Reise durch die camp-Ruinen, unterbrochen wird auf dem Weg durch die Segmente von fotografischen Archiven. Ein filmischer essay, der belebt die Erinnerung an vergessene Ruinen und eine Schlacht verloren.
