In den 1960er Jahren, der britische Maler Francis Bacon (1909-1992) überrascht einen Einbrecher und bittet ihn, teilen seine Bett. Der Einbrecher, eine Arbeiterklasse Mann namens George Dyer, dreißig Jahre jünger als Bacon, akzeptiert. Speck findet sich bei Dyer ' s amorality und Unschuld attraktiv, Einführung von ihm zu seinem Soho pals. In Ihrem sex-Leben, Dyer dominiert, Speck ist der masochist. Dyer ' s Kämpfe mit Depressionen, seine trinken, Pille knallen, und seine Satanischen Alpträume belasten die Beziehung, wie seine Schmerzen, mit Speck-casual Untreue.
