Kommunalen Eigentum, freie Sexualität, Auflösung der Kleinfamilie, - diese waren die Grundprinzipien des Friedrichshof, der größten Kommune in Europa, gegründet von dem Wiener Aktionisten Otto Mühl Anfang der 1970er-Jahre. Meines Vaters, meiner Mutter und mir der Regisseur Paul-Julien Robert, wer war geboren in dieser Gemeinde, begibt sich auf eine persönliche Reise in seine Vergangenheit. Darunter auch Archiv-material aus der öffentlichkeit zum ersten mal in diesem film, der Regisseur konfrontiert sich selbst und seine Mutter mit der Frage " Was ist Familie?'.
