Yohji Yamamoto - ein kreatives Genie zwischen den Metropolen Paris und Tokio. Wim Wenders findet in ihm einen Seelenverwandten und beobachtet den Mode-Avantgardisten mit der Kamera. Wenders' Film über die Kunst des Kleidens wird zum Porträt der Städte und zum Diskurs der Gemeinsamkeiten von Architektur, Design und Kino. Dieser "Tagebuchfilm", wie Wenders ihn nannte, untersucht die Gemeinsamkeiten seines Handwerks, des Filmemachens, mit dem Handwerk eines Modedesigners, dem in Tokyo lebenden Yohji Yamamoto, der zu Beginn der 1980er Jahre die Modewelt in Paris und New York schockierte und revolutionierte.
