Jim Crockett Promotions verwendet "The Great American Bash" als name für eine tour, hatte mehrere PPV-Kaliber-shows im ganzen Land. Im Jahr 1986 waren es 13 Große amerikanische Rauten und NWA World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair verteidigte seinen Titel bei jeder gegen Ricky Morton, Road Warrior Hawk, Ron Garvin, Nikita Koloff, Robert Gibson, Road Warrior Animal, Magnum T. A., Wahoo McDaniel und Dusty Rhodes. Rhodes besiegte ihn für den Titel in der Juli-26 Bash. Flair forderte er auf der letzten Bash am 2. August. Nikita Koloff und Magnum T. A. beteiligt waren, in der best-of-seven-Titel match-Serie in der ganzen Bash für den US-Titel.
