Der Islamische Staat zerstörte die antike syrische Ausgrabungsstätte Palmyra. Die einzigartigen steinernen Skulpturen aus der Nekropole sind heute in verschiedenen Sammlungen über die ganze Welt verstreut. Eine Gruppe von Archäologen begab sich auf eine Spurensuche, um ein lebendiges Bild Palmyras zu zeichnen – die Rekonstruktionen von Familiengeschichten liefern das Zeugnis einer ganzen Gesellschaft.
