Hugi ist ein Lehrer in einem kleinen und abgelegenen Dorf im Osten von Island (Bevölkerung 169). Er ist ganz zufrieden, selbst unter den Bergen, die umgeben das ganz Dorf, wo kaum jemand durch die Straßen geht. Aber hat er sich zurückgezogen zu weit? Wenn Hugi erhält einen Anruf von seinem entfremdeten Vater kündigt seine Ankunft, er ist nicht zu uns. Aber nach Rücksprache mit seinem AA-sponser, Hugi, beschließt, ihn willkommen zu heißen. Etwas, das er sofort bedauert.
