Eine Filmbiografie über das Ehepaar Sabina und Richard Wurmbrand, die mit der „Hilfsaktion Märtyrerkirche" eine Organisation gründeten, die verfolgten Christen in kommunistischen Ländern beistand. Der Film konzentriert sich auf die Anfänge ihres Zusammenseins und ihres Engagements. Ende der 1930er-Jahre konvertieren die beiden aus jüdischen Familien stammenden Rumänen zum Christentum und müssen sich in den nächsten Jahren vor den Nazis verstecken. Dennoch stehen sie ihrerseits Verfolgten bei. Der in missionarischer Absicht produzierte Film ist als Historien- und Liebesdrama solide, erzählerisch aber wenig aufregend, zumal das überschaubare Budget keine aufwändige Inszenierung zulässt.
