Raymond Eames, ein kleiner Drogendealer, wurde zum Tode verurteilt für die Dreharbeiten zu Tod eines Polizisten. Nach sieben Jahren der Rechtsmittel sind erschöpft, der das Datum seiner Hinrichtung kommt. Sein letzter Wunsch ist, dass seine Hinrichtung fotografiert werden. Eames wählt Paul Marish, einem blasierten dem Pulitzer-Preis ausgezeichneten Fotografen, der davon überzeugt ist von seinem Agenten zum Besuch der kleinen Stadt in Georgien. Sensing eine große Geschichte, Marish agent sendet ein reporter vom Time-Magazin, und gemeinsam beginnen Sie zu untersuchen, die Ereignisse um den Mord in einer kleinen Stadt, wo die Emotionen hoch und die Meinungen stehen fest.
