Nach dem Ende der Sowjetunion emigriert Natascha mit ihrer Familie nach Deutschland. 20 Jahre später kehrt sie zurück an den Ort ihrer Kindheit, den Baikalsee im Südwesten Sibiriens. Über die Begegnungen mit den Dorfbewohner·innen versucht sie, eine Verbindung zu diesem für sie identitätsstiftenden und gleichzeitig fremden Ort herzustellen. Die Kamera indes scheint ihre eigene Agenda zu verfolgen. Und immer mehr stellt sich die Frage, wer eigentlich die Protagonistin dieser Reise ist – die Person hinter oder diejenige vor der Kamera.
