Godards Dokumentation der späten 1960er westlichen Gegenkultur, die die Black Panthers, unter Bezugnahme auf arbeiten von LeRoi Jones und Eldridge Cleaver. Andere wichtige Themen sind die Rolle der Medien, der vermittelten Bild einer wachsenden technokratischen Gesellschaft, die Befreiung der Frauen, der Mai-Revolte in Frankreich und der macht der Sprache. Schneiden zwischen den drei großen Szenen, darunter die Rolling Stones im studio, der film ist visuell intercut mit Eve Democracy (Wiazemsky) mit graffiti, die Verbindungsstelle Organisationen, Unternehmen und Ideologien. Godard untersucht auch die Rolle der revolutionäre in der westlichen Kultur. Obwohl er glaubt, dass die westliche Kultur muss zerstört werden, es kann nur so geschehen, durch die Ablehnung der Intellektualisierung.
