Nachtclub-Besitzer Steve Larwitt (George Raft) sieht sein Reich von Investitionen kollabieren, wie er Gesichter Steuerhinterziehung Anklagen und Angriffe von Konkurrenten. Glauben Steve wird sicherer sein, für ein Jahr im Gefängnis, seine Frau Brenda (Joan Bennett), zeugt gegen ihn, auf Anraten seines Anwalts, Schräge Kolma (Lloyd Nolan), wer ist in der Liebe mit Ihr.
