Set in post-war Japan, Die Dame von Musashino erzählt die Geschichte von Michiko, eine desillusionierte junge Frau gefangen in einer lieblosen Ehe. Sie landet in Ihrem jüngeren cousin, Tsutomo, und die beiden werden enge, aber entscheiden, nicht zu vollziehen, Ihre Affäre. Er stattdessen wird mit den beteiligten kokett Tomiko, die führt auch eine Affäre mit Michiko Mann. Wenn Michiko findet, dass Ihr Mann Sie verlassen hat, Sie nimmt Ihr Schicksal in Ihre eigenen Hände.

Einer meiner Lieblings-Mizoguchi-Filme, bietet ein üppiges eröffnungsstoß die highlights der post-Krieg-Einstellung und ein paar atemberaubende set Stücke, und ich Liebe die Tatsache, dass alle Männer sind unredeemable Verlierer.
