Der große Kinofilm in Frage, ist der Spielfilm, Anthony Adverse (1936), für die in diesem kurzen film wirkte wie eine Werbung. Anthony Adverse, war ursprünglich ein Bestseller-Roman von Hervey Allen. Nach viel Interesse von mehreren Film-studios, Warner Bros. Bilder bekommen die Rechte anpassen der Roman in einen Film und Sheridan Gibney begann die Arbeit an dem Drehbuch. Mehr als 400 screen-tests wurden durchgeführt um zu wählen die Besetzung aus, die letztendlich stars wie Fredric March, Olivia de Havilland, Donald Woods, Anita Louise, Edmund Gwenn, Claude Rains, Louis Hayward, Gale Sondergaard, Steffi Duna, Akim Tamiroff, Ralph Morgan und Henry O ' Neill. Durch die enorme Bandbreite der Geschichte, über 5.000 Statisten angeheuert wurden und neue größere sound-Stadien gebaut wurden. Die vom gefeierten Regisseur Mervyn LeRoy, das studio erwartet, dass der Film bekannter als der Roman.
