Die Herstellung und der Vertrieb von Opium und dem daraus gewonnen Heroin liegen in den Händen einer verzweigten internationalen Gangsterorganisation. Joseph Coppola, Topagent der US-Anti-Drogenbehörde, kämpft mit äußerstem Einsatz für die Ausrottung des mächtigen Syndikats. Sein Auftrag führt ihn von Afyon in der Türkei, wo das Opium hergestellt wird, über Sizilien, wo die Mafia die Heroinherstellung und den Weitertransport in die USA kontrolliert, bis zurück nach New York. Coppola übernimmt zur Tarnung einen Nachtclub und gibt vor, selbst 500kg Rohopium kaufen zu wollen. Wird ihm der Trick gelingen, so an die Hintermänner heranzukommen?
