Das tollpatschige Schlafschaf Nepomuk wird vom Sandmann aus dem Traumland in die Wachwelt geschickt. Der Grund: Der böse, für alle Albträume verantwortliche Habumar hat ihm seinen Traumsand gestohlen. Jetzt muss Nepomuk den furchtlosen Seemann Scheerbart zu Hilfe holen. Doch stattdessen bringt das Schaf dessen erst sechsjährigen und ziemlich ängstlichen Enkel Miko mit zurück in die Traumwelt. Der Sandmann aber weiß, wie man kleine schüchterne Jungs zu Helden macht, und engagiert Miko als seinen Helfer.
