Die Freunde Willy, Kurt und Hans kehren von einer dreimonatigen Reise zurück. Zu Hause angekommen, müssen sie überrascht feststellen, dass sie pleite sind: Überall klebt der „Kuckuck" im trauten Heim. Nur der Hund und das Auto sind ihr ganzes Eigentum. Vom Erlös des Wagens entsteht ihre neue Existenz: Die Tankstelle „Zum Kuckuck", die sie nun zu dritt betreiben. Eine ihrer besten Kundinnen ist die junge und reiche Lilian Coßmann, in die sie sich alle drei verlieben. Auch bei der jungen Dame hat es gefunkt; sie weiß nur nicht, für wen sie sich entscheiden soll.
