Film öffnet am Dezember 28, 1999, drei Tage vor dem Beginn des neuen Jahrhunderts. Eine lokale Reporterin, Iron Idem, gibt bekannt, dass die Marsmenschen sind gelandet. Kurz nach, dass sein Programm verliert seine Unabhängigkeit: er ist gegeben, das Drehbuch erzählt die Massen, wie willkommen die Eindringlinge. Dann das chaos bricht aus: die Marsmenschen und der Polizei, misshandeln die Bevölkerung; Dinge, die gewalttätig werden. Idem die eigene Frau entführt wird und es scheint, dass jemand versucht, zu reduzieren seine Wirksamkeit als reporter. Idem beschließt, sich zu wehren: er illegal sendet eine Meldung, während das rock-Konzert, aber niemand glaubt ihm mehr.
