Von den Trommeln durch freie farbige Menschen und versklavten Afrikanern am Kongo Square, um die explosion der Musikstile, die noch gehört werden können, die auf den Straßen der Stadt, die macht der Musik, Leben zu verändern, ist offensichtlich. Persönliche Reflexionen von New Orleans-Musikern, Kommentar von nationalen und internationalen Musikern zusammen mit Archivmaterial und neu gefilmten performances, malen das Bild der "Stadt der Musik". Die Klänge und Rhythmen von New Orleans waren die Grundlage der amerikanischen Musik und weiter zu tragen die Fackel, die von einem befreienden Ausdruck in die Zukunft.
