In einer jüdisch-Orthodoxen Dorf in Israel, Tamar, eine zwölf-Jahr-altes Mädchen, bereitet sich auf Ihre Bat-Mizwa (eine Bestätigung), das am Pessach. Immer davon überzeugt, dass Sie unrein ist, und zunehmend ängstlich und depressiv, Sie zwingt sich in eine endlose ritual der Reinigung, beim Versuch, die Stille, das flüstern der inneren zwanghaften Gedanken, die detailliert jeden Zentimeter Ihrer unermüdlichen Schuld, immer und immer wieder. Noch schlimmer zu machen, Tamar ist nur ein Freund, Rachel, lockt Sie in sündigen Unfug: guckt in die Mikwe (Badehaus), drehen ein Licht auf, während der Sabbat. Die Mädchen wage sogar heimlich Baden in der Mikwe, wenn Tamar bekommt Ihre erste Periode. Wird Tamar zu erliegen, um Ihre ängste?
