Kit Madden reist nach Hollywood, wo ihr Bestseller verfilmt werden soll. Im Zug trifft sie auf die Marines Rusty und Dink, die nicht wissen, dass sie die Autorin des berühmten Buches ist und die darin geäußerten Ideen nicht besonders schätzen. Sie und Rusty fühlen sich stark zueinander hingezogen, doch sie weiß nicht, wie sie mit seiner Abneigung gegen die Autorin umgehen soll.
